In celebration of National Archives Month, the Texas State Library and Archives Commission is partnering with the Texas Archive of the Moving Image to host a FREE, after-hours archival film screening on the east lawn of the Texas State Capitol Building on Thursday October, 29 from 6:30 8:30PM. Archives in ATXion: The Texas Picture Show will invite visitors to catch a rare glimpse of vintage home movies, newsreels, kitschy commercials, broadcasts, and industrial and tourism films whose flickering images showcase part of what it means to be a Texan. From cattle drives to drive-in movies, family BBQs to political parades, the moving memories contained in the millions of feet of film and video from the holdings of archives, libraries, and special collections will take center stage under the stars.

In keeping with this celebration of the unique culture of our state, food trucks from local vendors will be on hand serving Tex-centric cuisine to be enjoyed on the Capitol lawn. Movie goers are invited to bring lawn chairs, blankets and picnic baskets to complete the experience. Prior to the screening, entertainment will be provided by Jason Roberts with the screening itself kicking off after sundown at 7:30 PM.
